Smash Tournaments in Texas
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has one of the deepest competitive communities in Texas. TEC runs Smash competition for high school crews, collegiate crews, and open brackets, with crew battles that bring whole school programs to the venue.
Crews, brackets, and LAN-first events
Smash is also one of the easiest titles to launch a program with. The Nintendo Switch hardware is affordable, students often already own copies of the game, and brackets can run on as little as one or two setups while a program scales up.
One Texas calendar, three ways in
Crew battles built around the high school academic calendar, with regional and state finals held in person.
Three tournament splits per academic year: fall, winter, and spring. One membership covers every title and every split. See the split calendar.
TEC majors include open singles brackets alongside the school crew events, so Texas players can compete regardless of school affiliation.
Events are LAN-first at Texas venues.
Built for Texas schools and colleges
- Texas high schools join through the Scholastic track at $500 per school, per academic year. Includes one Varsity and one JV crew.
- Texas colleges and universities (2-year and 4-year, varsity or club) join through the Collegiate track at $1,000 per institution, per academic year.
- Open singles brackets at TEC majors are available to anyone meeting the event's eligibility, school-affiliated or not.
Pricing is member-first and posted up front

Quick answers
Is Smash part of the TEC season?
Yes. Smash is a core title in both tracks: Conference crew battles on the scholastic side, collegiate crews in the fall and winter splits, plus open brackets at TEC majors.
Is Smash a good first title for a new high school program?
Yes. The Switch hardware is affordable and portable, students often already play, and brackets can run on a small number of setups. It is one of the easiest titles to launch with.
Can I compete in TEC Smash without going through a school?
Yes, in the open singles brackets at TEC majors. School-affiliated crew battles require enrollment through the Scholastic or Collegiate track.
Are events online or LAN?
LAN-first. Smash is best played on shared hardware in person, and TEC Smash events are built around that.
